Nichole Jackson

What years did you attend Houston?

What was your favorite subject?

I liked Texas History and Earth Science

Who was your favorite teacher?

Hope I can have 3, Mr. Johnson (loved 7th grade English.... diagramming sentences!!!), Mr. Lamb (he gave me my nickname, which on occasion I still hear from a few people), and Mr. Paris (he used to beat up on us in the hallways)

What activities/clubs were you involved in at Houston?

I was heavy into sports. My teammates and I were hard to compete against, we didn't lose often. I also was in the band, playing coronet and on Student Council.

What do you do now?

I have a Master's degree in Chemistry from Texas Tech University. I have been a Chemistry  Instructor at Odessa College for the past 10 years. I also am Chair of the Physical Science department which includes Geology and Physics. I truly love what I do and would recommend it to anyone wanting get into the teaching field.

What advice would you give today’s Rangers?

My advice would be to start thinking as if you have no choice but to go to college. Believe it and you will achieve it. The community college arena is a great place to start your journey into the world of higher education but most of all chase your dreams and be willing to fail and get back up again and again.
