Program Overview

The sixth  grade team focuses on integrating curriculum and developing each student’s learning style.  The magnet program exposes each student to higher order thinking skills, hands-on learning and technology in each subject area.  Throughout the year each sixth grader will have the opportunity to create a slide show presentation using links and transitions, a newspaper, a collection of poems, and a 3-D story map.  All core subjects will be involved in these projects.   We strive to prepare our students for the years to come in education and to be life-long learners.

The seventh grade team focuses on the integration of mathematics and science.  We promote higher order thinking skills, exploration, and application of concepts related to real life experiences.  Students must be able to collect data, analyze data, problem solve, and apply mathematics to the environment, to the solar system, to physics, to chemistry and to genetics.

The eighth grade program serves as a bridge between middle school and high school.  The curriculum stresses foundational academics and modern technology in an effort to touch the future. Students also have the opportunity to advance their engineering knowledge with the Engineering class offered to 8th grade students.  This will aid students in their academic endeavors at AACAL and in high school.  A cross-curriculum approach integrates content that applies to “real world” experiences.

The entire curriculum for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades is fully integrated.  By coordinating our curriculum and careers with AACAL, we hope to prepare our magnet students for a bright and successful future.
